I usually use the Ultimate Engine as primary and my Codecs as secondary, and yet I am still finding that 10 or so rips are failing. I am mainly ripping MP4 and TS files. I'm on 14.2.0, so I have the latest Ultimate codecs set, so I am thinking of upgrading to the latest secondary codecs. I see that CCCP hasn't changed in 5 years, however K-Lite was last updated recently. So I have two questions:
  • Is K-Lite the best codec pack to use?
  • If so, is there any useful difference between Lite, Standard and Mega?

I am not much an expert in codec packs, only familiar with K-Lite and CCCP.

Please find the difference between K-Lite Codec Packages here:

VTM uses 32-bit codecs, so please keep it in mind when checking K-Lite codec pack settings.

Thanks for the reply.

Since K-Lite is much more recent, I've gone ahead an installed. I am not sure what the advantages of 64-bit are over 32-bit (since, to my knowledge, the process of conversion is not really all that memory-intensive, more so CPU intensive), however, I am finding that the LAV codec, whilst slightly slower than the inbuilt Ultimate agend, is much more tolerant of inconistencies in TS files.
