Ive been using Videonizer for a few years now, becoming a plat user in '23, managing a movie/TVseries library.
This may be a bit rambly but I wanted to post some stuff I found missing or maybe ask for help in how to better manage certain aspects.
This is in no way meant to undervalue the work of the dev or the software itself. I very much like Videonizer and havent found anything offering the same functionality while being as easy to use.
Maybe some of these things can help the software to grow.
1. New Feature: Groupings
Especially for TV-Series the current sorting/filtering options arent really perfect.
What would be cool is if we could group certain videos together and ideally even give them a certain order while still having the option of say giving each video different tags/ratings etc.
Different group tiers would also be appreciated like:
Maingroup
- Group 1
- - - Video 1
- - - Video 2
- - - Video 3
- Group 2
- - - Video 1
etc..
Maybe even the option to expand or shrink the group in the media view.
2. New Feature: Mark tags that arent compatible with the already selected tags and would lead to no videos fitting the filter criteria if the filter were to be applied
This would apply if youre in the tags window searching for wich tags to apply to the filter.
For example I have tags for each tv-series and generic season tags (S01, S02, etc.)
If I choose a tv-series wich has say 5 seasons then all the other season tags should be greyed out because there are no videos with that tag combination.
Instead of greying out they could also be crossed out/have a different text color or anything else really.
3. New Feature: Set default sorting oder for tags or remember sorting order
Whenever I start videonizer the tag-category sort order resets to ascending.
Personally i really like the as is order. Itd be nice if the program remembered it of if i could set it in the settings.
It would also be nice to be able to change the as is order, as i believe its just the order the groups and tags have been created in.
This goes a bit far but it would be awesome to say drag the categories or the tags into a different order.
4. Bug fix?: Changing sorting in the tags takes you out of a group
Not sure if this is intended.
If you have a tag-category selected and you click on the sort order for the tags then the program will take you out of the category and show you all tags. I feel like it should still only show the tags within the category.
5. Change: In mediaview have the labels go across the entire tile instead of just the thumbnail.
I use posters/box covers for thumbnails wich take up maybe 40% of a tile. The labels however only show up within the small thumbnail even though there is lots of unused space to either side of the thumbnail.
An option to change that would be awesome.
Question/concern: Im really unsure on how to deal with a dataloss in terms of saving .
Say i have a backup of all videos and the database but my pc is broken to the point where ill have to setup a new system and im unable to move the backups back to the exact same filepath as before.
Am i correct in thinking that I have no way for videonizer to recognize the videos that are already in the database in a different location?
