First off, great program, been using it for a long time now and love it. And I understand if what I'm asking doesn't fit the design or just would be too complex/not work well with the code, etc, just an idea.
I wondered if it would ever be possible to have the tag system that could have a drop down/selection of multiple settings within it. The likely easier would be simply a similar system to the ratings where you could optionally add a ranking. An example would be that you could do things like "Action", "Romance" "Violence" but also have number/star ratings [I'd imagine numbers would be easier so it would be smaller in the tag list?) for each so you could get an idea on just how big a part that theme plays in the movie.
The other would be custom lists of items within a particular tag. That way instead of just a number or star rating you could have whatever the user wanted. May cause more issues or take more work to make sure it is safe and the like.
Again, no clue if this is even possible with the way things work and are coded, but just felt it would be useful in a lot of situations rather than just using loads of tags to do the same thing ie. Action - Heavy, Action - Light, Violence - None, Violence - Moderate, Violence - Extreme, and so on which can add quite a lot if you are doing it for many different things.
Whatever the case, thanks for all the work put into this incredibly useful program! Haven't found anything that works anywhere near as well for videos (still hoping to find one for photos that is any good!)
[ Feature Request / Discussion ] Tags with Ratings
Thank you for your feedback and feature request.
I like the idea to allow to put the weight to tags within Items.
And of course filter by Tags with weight.
I will check how to implement it.
But I didn't get your second idea:

Please provide more details on it.The other would be custom lists of items within a particular tag. That way instead of just a number or star rating you could have whatever the user wanted.
It was just an alternative to the weighted tags, but would obviously be done differently. That is, you wouldn't be able to sort or filter by weight, but rather by words as you already do with tags.
Instead of having tags with weights (such as Violence (1/5), Action (3/5), Comedy (0/5), you would just have a drop down list of text options the user would create.
As a more concrete example, you might have a tag "Sports". And instead of the numeric values showing how prevalent it is, it might list the types. So the tag would be "Sports" with a list of sub-tags the user could specify, like "Basketball", "Baseball", "Football", "Rugby", "Boxing", and so on, and select one. In the list of tags/searchable tags, maybe it just comes out as "Sports (Boxing)", "Sports - Boxing" or whatever.
I can see this being more difficult to implement, though. After all, what if the video has multiple sports? Then you need a way to allow selecting the same tag (but with different 'subtags') to cover that. Same with filtering; if you want to see multiple Sports then it would require allowing the user to pick than one. And it might also compound difficulties as set numbers are likely easier to deal with coding/storing than whatever the user types in?
Likely not necessary for most, and it just would save creating multiple similar tags and possibly bloating the tag list if you make heavy use of it. But as of now, you can simply create multiple tags as listed above, such as "Sports (Boxing)", "Sports (Hockey)" and so on, and get the job done well enough, so it may well be worth canning that idea; it was just sort of a thought that came along with the first for customization.
