So I was going to create some thumbnail previews because I needed to do some posting and low and behold the shortcut on the old desktop went bye-bye....
I looked and looked and could not find it.
I went to the x86 programs folder but that had the old version then I remembered that the new version updated into the users profile (I'm the only user on this PC)
So I looked in the users folder and ther was the program but the exe was GONE!!
I thought WDF???
Ok I know what to do , just update the old .....but Noooo Avast! got in the way at 99% updating and gave me a pop up blocking messg....

I had to delete the folder in the users folder then reboot then turn off Avast! then reinstall the update while running the program as ADM.
Even though I am always logged in as adm under my profile, I know not safe (Bla,bla, bla) But there's things I do on a daily bases that I need to be logged in under an ADm profile so it's just easier for me that way.
Soo the long and short of this post is that Avast! sees something in VTM that it doesn't like and removes the exe in the program.
Now like most anti-virus programs it's running all the time in the background and if it sees something it doesn't like it will remove it or throw it into the quarantine folder. Now I didn't see it in there so it must have removed it while I was doing something else, like watching TV.
You can set up an exemption in your anti-virus like I had to do to make sure this doesn't happen , but it shouldn't have happened in the first place, IMHO.
Avast! Screwed me with VTM
Please let me clarify the situation with some anti-virus programs.
VTM uses code obfuscation to protect its logic.
Here is the definition from Wikipedia:
Possible solution is to reduce the level of sensitivity of your anti-virus/firewall software or to make an exclusion for VTM.
By the way, VTM creates an internet connection only when you press on "Check for newer version online" button.
Please use the latest versions of my programs and stay tuned!

Here is the definition from Wikipedia:
Since anti-virus programs can not understand parts of code, they may generate false-positive reports, or mark programs as a "suspicious" (please note [Susp] postfix in your Avast screenshot). In software development, obfuscation is the deliberate act of creating obfuscated code, i.e. source or machine code that is difficult for humans to understand.
Programmers may deliberately obfuscate code to conceal its purpose (security through obscurity) or its logic, in order to prevent tampering, deter reverse engineering, or as a puzzle or recreational challenge for someone reading the source code.

Well even after I put the VTM in Avast programs Exclusion List (the whole root folder in the users folder)
Avast still went ahead and removed the VTM exe file and I got the same pop-up warning.
I then had an option to add to exclusion list but nothing happened.....then had additional option to report file as save. [See screen shot below]
I sent it in and also finally found the quarantine folder and restored the exe , but it still semed to keep it in it's quarantine folder as well...
I then called up support and waited ...and waited and was told over and over again that my wait time would be one minute.....zzzzzz - 20 minutes later I got some 3rd world woman with a thick accent that barley spoke english tell me what I already did then she said "Well in that case the only thing you can do is turn off avast when you want to use the program"
I was like Really that's you advice? What if it removes the Exe for that program while it does it scans again? Apparently the quarantine is not working or more to the point it is over working"......Click ...I hung up on her.
Avast has been going down hill for a while now and I think it's time for a change. I think I need to research for a new AV program replacement.
