Hi – up until two days ago I had no problem with the program. Now when I try and ‘choose shots manually’ (only for mp4 and flv) files the program terminates. VTM will produce the thumbnails for both types of files without any problems at all using any of the engines and Avi, mpg and wmv files work OK when choosing shots manually.

This occurs when:

• Any of the engines is primary choice. Ultimate/Crystal/Engine1/Engine2
  VTM runs as administrator or normal user
  Standard or custom presets used
  After clean install

The Diag.log file just shows normal program activity until the point of program termination.

As the program was running perfectly just a few days ago it seems probable that a Windows update has caused this but I just can’t think what the problem might be and hoped you could help.

In case anyone else has this problem, the solution is to force a Windows 10 update to KB4015438.

The fault was caused by a Windows update (14-03-2017) which damaged the Microsoft MPEG-2 handling libraries. It was not a VTM fault!
