Bug report: incorrect orientation of MOV files (Apple QuickTime MPEG-4) with rotation=180
Posted: 21 Sep 2024, 15:03
The generation of thumbnails for MOV files (Apple QuickTime MPEG-4 recorded with an iPhone) has the following behaviour:
If the rotation stored in the video is 0, 90, or 270 degrees then all thumbnails are correct.
If the rotation stored in the video is 180 degrees then the thumbnails are upside-down (independent of the engine used for rendering).
It seems strange that VTM correctly reads the orientation for 0, 90, and 270, but not for 180. So I verified with ExifTool and additionally with MediaInfo that the correct orientation (i.e., rotation=180) is stored in my test videos. It would be great if you could have a look. If desired, I can send short test videos via a private message.
Thank you and best regards,
