I wish there was a function to choose between the small current size and larger size when viewing the actors thumbnail, sometimes I feel it's too small.
Would like a button that switches between small and larger versions. I don't mind if this increases the size of the database to acomodate for the larger thumbnails.
Is this something you would consider?

this is just an example/idea to show you my train of thought, dimensions/size, etc. would need to be adjusted to fit the space. (Yes i know i made horizontal photo too tall)
name below photo? above photo? where to display the comments?
maybe an option is to have the comments show on hover over the portrait or horizontal photos? (personally I fit a long URL in the comments), just an idea.
red text is just comments...
You would need to have 3 buttons, one that is the normal view that's currently the default, then 2 buttons to switch between portrait and horizontal mode.
each actor would then display either portrait or horizontal mode images depending on which button you click.
i really like how you implemented an option to use xl or 4k cache when it comes to video view , so its up to the user to decide if they want to increase the db.
it would be nice if this was possible with actor as well. or if you have any better ideas on how to display actors photos better that would be great too.
this is just an example... i think it gives a much better view of the actor...

actually I think it would be too much work and effort for little gain... these are just ideas, maybe you have a better idea on how to display bigger photos without it changing too much of your current design and system.

actually, you don't need to redesign the layout at all, this would work fine. disregard the previous/post above. this is unedited/photoshopped, other than having the new ui elements in red.

it's only the display part that would need change. ie, portrait button uses portrait photo, horizontal photo uses horizontal photo
maybe an option to set default display type, ie as line/detail, portrait or horizontal.

Thank you for considering my suggestion. Looking forward to it
edit: i used wrong language definition, it's
portrait and landscape, not portrait and horizontal.
