How do I post a screenshot of the 77 video codecs I've installed on my pc? and what do I do now?

I have 3 programs on my pc (including VTM) which allow me to grab frames and make video thumbnails. All 3 of these produce a very dark image. Any idea what the mechanism is for doing this?
