Hi. I'm using the latest version 6.4.0.4
I want to use the extreme render bit the thumbnails are with wrong resolution.
I tried different containers (mkv, avi, mp4) and codecs (x.264, xvid), all videos 1280x720, but they all come as 720x720.

Image <-- extreme

I have no such issues with engine 1, engine 2 and crystal.

Image <-- crystal (it works though showing 720x720@1280x720 :? )

Image <-- engine 2

I'm not sure if the problems is with my codecs or extreme render. Can you help me?

Seems like you have anamorphic video.
Thus your video has physical resolution 720 pixels x 720 pixels (so originally it IS square). But there is a flag in the video file that tells players to playback this video with 16:9 ratio (and your physical proportion of width : height is 1:1 (720:720)) . And if a player can read that flag then it stretches the video so its width : height becomes 16 : 9. In your case your player stretches width from 720 to 1280.
So I suppose Extreme engine ignores that ratio flag and reads physical proportions (1:1 in your case) and makes thumbnails according to that ratio.
Other Engines do read ratio flag and make 16:9 thumbnails and some of engine shows even physical resolution and playback resolution (720x720@1280x720).
So it's not codecs or something, It is anamorphic video.

P.S. Tried it with my videos. Strange, but Extreme engine gives me the proper ratio and writes that 720x720@1280x720. And all others returns me square thumbnails 1:1.

My videos are not anamorphic. I encode only with strict resolution.
I don't know exactly why but everything is back to normal now. I suspect it was from the codecs. I use K-Lite Mega and they put betas of some codecs. Maybe after the latest update it went back to normal.

I have the same proble again. After updating K-Lite the worng resolution returned.

I tried old versions of Video Thumbnails Maker but the problem persists.
So obviously it's a compability between K-Lite and Video Thumbnails Maker.

I've used this software for quite a long time. I've never changed the way I encode my videos as well.
It all began lately with the K-Lite updates.

Can you do something about this?

What version of K-Lite do you use?
I need an exact version number to test.

I have installed the latest K-Lite Standard 11.0.5. All settings were default during the installation.
Here is the result with Extreme engine:

I'm always with thw latest version of K-Lite.

Now the only renderer that works properly for me is engine2. The thumbnails it produces are in the correct resolution: 1280x720.
All other renderers come out in 720x720.
I tied changing lav filter's h264, ffdshow's h264 and coreavc. All the same. I even tried lav splitter and haali, but to no avail.

I tried the same video file on another PC with cleanly installed Win7 and Video Thumbnails Maker works like charm. The resolution is correct.

I can't understand what's wromg with my PC that it passes wrong resolution info to Video Thumbnails Maker. :(

What are your K-Lite settings?
There is a configuration tool in K-Lite codec-pack (aka Codec tweak Tool).
Can you provide screenshots of your settings?

Also, k-Lite is coming in different packages (Standard, Full, Mega, ...). Which one is yours?
